Ndur to Return for 2024-2025

The Komoka Kings have announced the return of Kings Head Coach Rumun Ndur, who will lead the team through the 2024-2025 season.

Last year marked Ndur’s first season coaching in Komoka, where the team faced challenges in the initial half but showed remarkable resilience in the latter part of the season.

Expressing his privilege and excitement at rejoining the Kings for another season, Ndur stated: “First let me start by saying how grateful I am to Roop Chanderdat and Ray Giffen for entrusting me with the role of coaching this great hockey club for another year.”

Acknowledging the difficulties of the previous regular season, Ndur remarked: “If you know me, you’ll know that I do not take losing very well and last year did not go as I had expected so the work to close the gap to the other teams in our league starts right now!”

In the playoffs, the 8th-seeded Kings proved to be a formidable opponent for the first-place Nationals, demonstrating their strength by securing game 1 on the road and narrowly losing by two or fewer goals in two of the next four games, with a last-minute marker deciding game 4 on home ice.

This impressive performance in critical moments instills belief and confidence in Ndur, who expressed: “I’m very confident that I, with the help of our front office personnel, can raise the standards of our hockey players to the level required to compete in this league. Once again, I feel blessed to have this opportunity and I am eager to get started and make this season a memorable and successful one for the club.”

Kings President and GM Roop Chanderdat shared his anticipation for another season with Ndur behind the bench, emphasizing: “We are happy to have Rumun back and this will give our organization some continuity behind the bench. We want to continue our growth as a team and Rumun is the right guy to lead our players. Rumun brings a lot of experience and knowledge which he can share and pass on to our team.”

The Kings are eagerly looking forward to a strong 2024-2025 campaign, commencing with their Spring Prospects Camp scheduled for April 30th and May 2nd at the Komoka Wellness Centre.
